DefaultWAVES V12

With this new update you can now change the GUI. I tried and the button isn't there yet for Reaper. Does anyone know when that might be addressed, or is there a work around

I had a number of plugins which were upgradable for free to v I did that and, in Reaper, cleared the cache and rescanned all plugins.

Adding a v12 plugin in a project works fine and I feel that the plugin is working. Unfortunately, when opening the plugin, I only see a blank (gray) plugin window.

Anyone having the same issue? I'm on a non-Retina iMac running macOS High Sierra ().

Thanks.

Once again operator error here, lol. I had to reinstall and reactivate the Waves Plug In's through Waves Central. All is good so far.

Before I do the update to v

1) Do old projects with the v11 and previous versions load the v12 plugin settings correctly?

2) Do the Reaper-saved presets still exist after the update? I'd hate to lose the presets I'd already created.

Thanks.

Having been burned by Waves major version updates in Reaper before I was quite hesitant to update.

I allowed version upgrade in my Waves Account.

Opened Waves Central and noticed it offered V12 upgrades for my packages and individual plugins.

Pressed the Install and Activate.

Watched it download for a while and finish.

I'll be damned, it worked just fine not even needing a Clear Cache & Rescan action in Reaper.

Exactly what I was afraid of.

Error message opening up a project: "The following effects were in the project file and are not available. REAPER will keep their configurations, but things may not sound as desired."

NOT HAPPY.

Yes, I did a clear cache/re-scan. The plugins show up in the scan.

Now I have to figure out how to downgrade back to v11, unless someone here knows how to fix this, please. Support ticket created with Waves.

Waves (Central) is to me what Windows 10 is to many REAPER users (not me, though) when it comes to unreliability. There's no way in hell I'm going to upgrade Waves! At least not until I'm sure I'm not going to have to use REAPER for a month or so.

Thanks to all you brave guinea pigs out there!

Valle. Surprised me. Exactly what issues have you had with Waves Central, apart from when you did the initial install, which DID cause a lot of complications to those of us with earlier versions of the Waves installer.

Once I had finally removed all the crap that previous versions had left behind, Waves Central has behaved % perfectly for me and an awful lot of others on here.

Mind you, I have only had one major issue with Win10 since it first became available.
And that was because I came to it via their beta testing versions.

This update was entirely uneventful for me. This is a good thing.

I'm considering upgrading my Puigtecs and V-Comp, but does anyone know if performance is improved with V12? I use these regularly and I'm not sure if I should upgrade or buy other emulations.

Waves Tech Support provided this last night, and it appears to have fixed my issue. Old projects are loading properly.

I am sharing this in case anyone else has issues.

Thank you for contacting Waves Tech Support.

I suggest a complete uninstall-reinstall to overcome this issue.

First, uninstall:
Launch Waves Central.
Go to the Settings page in the bottom left corner.
Under Maintenance, look for Uninstall and click the drop-down menu.
Check mark all the available version entries.
Click Uninstall.
Press [Win key]+R, type %AppData% and hit Enter.
In the Roaming folder that shows, drag the Waves Audio folder to your desktop.
Press [Win key]+R, type %LocalAppData% and hit Enter. In the window that shows, delete the Waves Audio folder.
Press [Win key]+R, type %ProgramData% and hit Enter. In the window that shows, delete the Waves Audio folder.
Delete any WaveShell files you find in the following locations (if exist):
C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-ins
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3
C:\Program Files (x86)\VSTPlugins
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\ DigiDesign\DAE\Plug-Ins
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\VST3
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\WPAPI

Now to re-install:
Download and install Central.
Run Central and log in.
Go to the Install Products page in the top left corner.
Under My Products, check mark the products you wish to install.
If your licenses are not activated, you can choose a device to activate to when installation finishes under Target Device for Licenses.
If your licenses are already activated, click Install on the bottom right.

added by me: Copy Waves Audio folder from desktop back into %%appdata%%

when I was on Waves 10 I bought a new plugin and this led to Waves not giving me the option to stay with 10 because when I launched what was Central 10 it started changing everything to 11 on its own which then resulted in a long session with Waves technical. Is there a way to stop this happening if I buy a W12 plugin in future? Thanks

Thought I had posted this before.

I tried using the button on the upper right corner of my eligible plugins and there was a slit of options for resizing. Starting at 75% & going up into the hundreds. So it works.

I was slightly disappointed, as I assumed that the "new" version would more like a regular infinitely-variable format that other devs seem to be going for.

Ah, well - at least 2 of my umpteen gazillion plugs are now able to be upsized if I ever bother to buy a 4k monitor

DefaultCymbals' post also fixed my issue after waves V12 upgrade

Rather than wait for a reply from Waves tech support, I tried the method they had provided to Cymbals and it worked for me after a minor hiccup. There is a missing step after "Under Maintenance, look for Uninstall and click the drop-down menu. Check mark all the available version entries." - and then click Uninstall. (fairly obvious I guess but I just blindly followed the instructions). I also had to close Waves Central as the files would not delete while being used. Not sure exactly what was using them so I also did a PC restart in case Reaper(closed) was still holding things open in the back ground. Sorry I didn't log my every step but kind of muddled my way through. End result? All of my previous configs of Waves Plugins worked exactly as V Before this fix, Reaper would not replace old V11 with new V Even though the V12 version could be opened and used in the very same FX instance. Hope this helps.

That surprised me, too. First time that's happened for me with new Waves plugins.

Happy days.

BTW, the plugin resizing isn't worth it. It just gets blurry when you enlarge it. However, the % UI does look a bit sharper on Retina.

What a shame! It stays really sharp on my humble x monitor, so I assumed it would be effective for those of us that have higher resolution monitors.
Leaves me wondering if the Waves coders actually checked this improvement out on hi - dpi monitors before releasing it.

I installed Waves V12 via Waves Central succesfully (i choosed for removing V11)
Waves V12 plugins are seen in Reaper and are fully working.

Indeed, the UI resizing feature is a joke: gets blurry on my macbook pro retina

It's pretty clear to me that all Waves did was scale the graphics rather than re-render them, since they are soft at the large sizes, but for me -- having struggled to use Waves plugins on a PC with a 4k display where, unlike on the Mac, they didn't, before, scale at all (think tiny) -- v12 is a welcome improvement.

Incidentally, my upgrade from v11 to v12 went fine, but after past bad experiences I now take pains to uninstall old versions before upgrading to new versions, and I make sure that I never have different versions of the same plugins installed at the same time.

The so called resize (image upsacling with the most horrible blurring effect ever) works for me.

But there is no "preset browser" button to be found. Nice try from what I can tell by the video but far from what competitors have to offer.

Applause! I did the same till recently, but the last few updates I have done have performed perfectly, so it is possibly safe to assume that once you have Waves Central properly in place, all the old nonsense is a thing of the past.. Let us hope it stays that way.

So I've been using a bunch of V10 plugins for the last few years on Reaper and Logic on Mac, and just Reaper on PC. Last week I purchased the Scheps Omni Channel which is a V Ever since, I've had weird crashes. In Logic it won't even load a handful of V10 plugins. It just straight crashes on Logic. Reaper seems to handle those handful of plugins fine, but then I add a V12 plugin, and it just crashes. It took me an hour the other day trying to open a Logic project to try to save the audio files.

Reach out to Waves Tech Support and they recommend uninstalling and reinstalling (no shit.) I'm pretty pissed as I have to find workarounds and different combinations just to get a session complete.

They are only recommending that you uninstall & reinstall the offending plugin. I have played with uninstall/install and all the other options & they all work just fine. However, I am wondering if you have some hidden "old waves files or folders" like I said earlier. That was always the cause of instability liike you are getting/

So, basically go hunt down all the possible files, delete them, then reinstall everything? The one thing I haven't tried lol I'll give it a shot. Thank you!

Yes, just go to services, look for nahimic and disable it.
It is a crappy service from the cheap surround from some motherboards, that interferes with Waves and other pliugin GUI. Don&#;t ask how I know.

@ Bennett:

Dont thamk me.I got the advice from fellow Forum member Heart Doctor.
But be warned, that some of the old, obsolete waves folder & files can show up in some weird places!
I found a ton of them in the /program files(x86) area when I did the full clean out and reinstall.
Once you are clean & have Waves Central supervising the reinstalls, you should be golden.

Had problems with vst installing % and vst3 plugins partial loading.

REAPER UPDATE at first showed equal vst as vst3 installs! Now, back to vst = % and vst3 = partial install wave plugins.
Uninstalled Waves folders - Appdata - Local / Roaming - Program Data + checked for waveshells when deleting waves. Registry Scalled CCleaner.

Wave Central - Tried installing plugins a few at a time. So far so good incrementally installing groups of plugins totalling 27 plugins.
Bringing Total to 37 plugins, vst install = % and vst3 = partial install.

Any ideas?

As a side note, I am beginning to feel like joining the school of thought that says there is little point in going over % to VST3 when so few developers seem to be giving it more than a casual sort of after-thought-y go in addition to the stalwart VSTs

Interesting - I believe you - Waves says V12 plugins work only with Reaper as VST3's -

Most if not all of them only show up in REAPER as VST3 for meplus, you can't sidechain their VST2 versions anyway.

So far, Waves is the only one that kind of forced me to use VST3 version.

I have many Wave Plugins - Bought on fire sale / free

Installing over 30 Wave Plugins in Reaper - many VST3 plugins cache cleaned / rescanned - are missing / not loaded. All VSTs are scanned and loaded in Reaper

REAPER - all VST and VST3 versions are present with WAVES V12

Hooray! Incidentally, nice to see you on here a little more frequently, even if it is for a fix.

FWIW I am up to over 80 Waves plugs, most of which I use regularly, but GTR seems to account for about 40% of them! I have always wondered why they have to have SO many different iterations of it. Mind you, for an elderly amp sim, I find it works pretty well for guitar sounds that dont need a load of distortion/overdrive etc.

run in waveshalls folder all of "waves au reg utility" and then run logic.

This. Also, the Audio Units will not be in the Digidesign folder, there'll just be a Waveshell in the components folder.

if you trying install plugins for logic then the "wave Au utility" is the way. but if you toking about pro tools then you need to copy a *.dpm file in digidesign folder.

I already answer for logic.
If "wave Au utility" not working then copy from waveshells folder all the file that ending *.component (don't move only copy) to \library\audio\plug-ins\components\ and that's it. if that won't help then you have a corrupted file and you need to uninstall all (in wave\utilities) and reinstall. good luck.

Gear Nut

ErI know you answered with the solution. I'm merely pointing out that the OP mentions the Digidesign folder which, in this case, is irrelevant.

yes. logic only use audio units plugin and only need components folder no other folders like vst vst3 avx digidesign and so on (if you gonna use only logic) you may delete them, maybe except vst folder that some time used by standalone programs like ezdrummer.

thanks everyone, i contacted waves and found out i had to reinstall waves which was annoying and then i could select which plugins to install

Cubase 11 Waves v12 plugins not loading

Hi,

I have upgraded to Cubase 11 Pro. All thirdparty plugins work fine.
However the Waves V12 plugins I have purchased are visible, but do not load.
Using Cubase they were loading ok. No issues.

According to waves.com Waves V12 is compatible with Cubase 11 and Supported Hosts | Support | Waves

I have uninstalled all Waves plugins using the latest Waves Central version; reinstalled and activated using the procedure I found and pasted below.

Still the issue exists. All Waves v12 plugins do not load.

Has anyone experienced this problem as well with Cubase 11 and Waves V12?

OS is Win 10, 64 bit, latest build
Processor Intel(R) Core™ iHQ CPU @ GHz GHz
RAM: 16 GB

I am running out of ideas howto fix the problem.
Hints and resolutions very welcome!

thanks and regards
Alex

After updating to Logic all my external plugins are not working properly: I can't see the control panels. I can only reach the parameter value in the editor mode. I've tried to re-scan all audio units, but that didn't solve the problem. Any ideas? (OS X Catalina, iMac )

Solution found!

This is Directly from Waves:

Logic is now officially supported with Waves v

To start fresh, I suggest a complete uninstall-reinstall.

First, uninstall:

  1. In Finder go to Applications and remove the Waves folder and Central application.
  2. In Finder, click on the Go menu while holding down [Alt/Option], click on Library > Preferences and send the Waves Preferences to the trash.
  3. In the same Library folder go to Caches and send the Waves folder to the trash.
  4. Go to Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences andsend the Waves Preferences folder to the trash.
  5. Go to Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support and send the Waves folder to the trash.
  6. Delete any WaveShell files you find in the following locations (if exist):
    • Mac HD > Library > Audio > Plugins > Components
    • Mac HD > Library > Audio > Plugins > VST
    • Mac HD > Library > Audio > Plugins > VST3
    • Mac HD > Library > Application Support > Digidesign > Plugins
    • Mac HD > Library > Application Support > Avid > Audio > Plug-Ins
    • Mac HD > Library > Audio > Plugins > WPAPI

Now to re-install:

  1. Downloadand install Central.
  2. Run Central and log in.
  3. Go to the Install Products page in the top left corner.
  4. Under My Products, check mark the products you wish to install.
  5. If your licenses are not activated, you can choose a device to activate to when installation finishes under Target Device for Licenses
  6. If your licenses are already activated, click Install on the bottom right.

Once done, please refer to our How to Find Your Plugins in Logic Pro X article and follow the steps provided.

DI you read the following support page regarding and Plugins?

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT

As far as I understand, it is the old finger pointing game. Apple changes/updates something that requires the third-party developer to update their software (plugin). They give them prior notice to have it fixed by the release date. However, that works only in a perfect world.

In the case of Logic and Plugins, the end user can run into really annoying issues. For example, the developer didn't update in time, the developer refused to update (no time, no money, no interest), the developer doesn't exist anymore.

Hope that helps,

You need to contact the Audio Unit vendor to answer that question.

I am a beta tester for the vendor in question. They said Apple messed up the multi-outs in Logic. It’s not the vendors problem.

and I don’t have issue with Waves. It’s Overbridge from Elektron.

I emailed Waves about this the other day and they said that Waves is not yet supported by the newest version of Logic Pro X , and they're working on getting them all qualified for use. Kind of a bummer considering I live on the Waves stuff right now. I think one of the only options is to redownload an older version of OS to run an older version of Logic. Other than that, we might be SOL for the time being. I just hit them up on an ETA for the fix today so I'll come back once I get word of it.

I have the same problem. Neither waves or Melodyne plug-in shows graphic interface. It's a real bummer. Anyone have any ideas? Is it just a wait it out solution? If so, that is not great news.

Edgar Rothermich

All of my Waves plugins are V Yet every time I launch Logic I am prompted to move to trash or click cancel for plugins it says cannot be verified. I have over Waves plugins and this is a true PITA! All of my UAD and IK Multimedia plugins are fine. After years of using Logic I am considering Pro Tools because this issue really ruins my work flow before it even starts. These problems should have been addressed before launching. Especially seeing as a beta version was in the market.

Correction. Over plugins. But for the Waves plugins I have to click cancel or skip, the counter says Imagine having to click that many times just for Logic to load. All of my Waves plugins were updated a month or two ago. The strangest part of the issue is, that in the plugin manager the Waves plugins reads “Could not open”, but all of the plugins load and work. I just updated to yesterday. Everything worked flawlessly in

No because the folder that is supposed to be located in the library doesn’t exist. And as of about an hour ago version won’t even open. It’s stuck on “Updating information about Audio Unit plugi-in’s”. I went to breakfast, came back, and it was still in that screen. I forced quit the program and restarted it. It’s stick on the same screen. This is a freaking joke! I’m in middle of a project. Again, I’d rather pay the money for Pro Tools. This upgrade has been nothing short of a joke! was much better. If it ain’t broke don’t break it!

I have uninstalled every si glen Waves component. And I still can’t open Logic. I have to force quit. Once Logic closes there’s an error about an eLicenser. Problem is I’m not using one. This is ridiculous. In the beginning at least I was able to click thru for Logic to open. Now the error boxes are hidden behind the Logic startup window. I literally cannot believe they screwed up this update so terribly.

After hours of troubleshooting o came to the conclusion that the issue had to do with software other than Waves. I decided to uninstall my Strindberg interface then open Logic. Sure enough it loaded. The issue wasn’t a Waves issue. Apparently having to update to Catalina renders previous drivers unreadable.

I spoke with Logic tech support yesterday and told them about the problem with Strindberg interfaces. Apparently Catalina doesn’t recognize their old drivers and eLicenser. One in particular is a RevX-AU file. That is was why Logic wouldn’t open. The tech agent said he would alert the engineers. All is well now.

How To Install Waves Plugins In FL Studio 20 (Step-By-Step) Tutorial

Mac OS: Waves Central installer. AUs don't show up

Arghh man! I’m getting tired of problems with Waves plugins.

I just installed the brand new Waves Central installer and updated all my plugins through it, when doing this it will uninstall all old Waves plugins and reinstall them, that seemed to go fine, but now Renoise can’t find the AU plugins that is obviously a big problem as I can’t work on my older songs anymore.

I wrote to Waves support about this, they basically replied that Renoise is not officially supported but told me to try run a “Waves AU Registration Utility ”, so I removed the Renoise cache plugin files, ran their AU registration file and opened Renoise 3 and the new beta, but they still don’t show up.

When Renoise is opened you can see it stops and parse the “Waveshell-VST”, shouldn’t it do the same for a “Waveshell-AU”?

Any tips?

On a side note, the VSTs now seems to work without all the GUI problems they had earlier, so going forward I will use their VST instead.

I wonder if there is a way to map AU in old XRNS files to their VST counterpart?

Now discussing:

Guest post by Brandon S. Hire of The Noise Floor. Brandon recently went hell with getting his Waves VST3 plugins all into REAPER. He got through it and I asked him to share the experience to help others in the same situation. Any clues to solving problems like this are gold.

Waves recently announced a new subscription plan which allows users to subscribe to their Silver and Mercury bundles. I decided to give this a try and download the Mercury Bundle. As a long time REAPER user and long time Waves user, I didn’t anticipate any problems.

To put it bluntly, I had problems. But the problems were neither the fault of Waves or of Cockos. The folks at Waves’ tech support team were awesome at helping me figure out the problem, and I want to document the issue here in case any of you are experiencing something similar.

headdesk

Note that I’m not advising you to take these steps yourselves. If you’re having issues, there may be other factors that are causing your issues. Your best bet is to contact support at Waves or Cockos and see if you can get assistance with the issue. With that being said, here’s what happened:

To make a long story short, I noticed that about half of the Mercury bundle plugins weren’t showing up in VST3 format in REAPER. The same plugs would show up in VST and AU formats, which indicated that the plugins were in fact installed on the system. So I decided to clear the cache in the plugins preferences and rescan the plugins folder.

As it scanned the VST3 plugins from Waves, it stalled at Greg Wells MixCentric. Then REAPER flat out crashed. When I re-launched REAPER, there was still no sign of the missing VST3 plugins, and MixCentric was one of them.

So I contacted Waves support. After trying a couple of things, we were able to remedy the problem with a clean install. This required that I go through a few steps to uninstall everything Waves related on my system, and then allow only the newest versions of everything to be installed by Waves Central. The whole process took a couple of hours, but by the end of it all I was back up and running. When I loaded REAPER again, I cleared the cache and re-scanned again. This time there was no crash, and at the end of the scan I had all of the missing plugins.

Uninstall the latest v of your Waves plug-ins for the system:

  1. Quit all audio related software.
  2. Launch Waves Central and login. Choose: Install->Uninstall Products (at the top).
  3. Choose All Waves plugins V9 click &#;Uninstall&#;.
  4. Once the uninstall is finished &#; quit Waves Central.

Clean any Waves versions you may have installed:

  1. Quit all the audio related software on your Mac.
  2. Please use the Waves uninstaller to remove all the Waves software from your computer, located in Applications > Waves > Utilities > Waves uninstaller and check “Remove All” to remove also the old versions. (If not available skip to the next step)
  3. Delete &#;Waves&#; folder located in your Applications folder
  4. Go to the following locations and  delete any WaveShell file/s of any version number found:
    1. HD > Library > Audio > Plug-ins > Components
    2. HD > Library > Audio > Plug-ins > VST
    3. HD > Library > Audio > Plug-ins > VST3
    4. HD > Library > Application Support > Avid > Audio > Plug-Ins*
    5. HD > Library > Application Support > Digidesign > Plug-ins*
      * This location is only present if Protools is installed
  5. Delete the &#;Waves Preferences&#; folder located at HD > Users > Current user > Library > Preferences (this folder is accessed by going to the Go menu and holding down the Alt\option key. This will reveal the Library option)
  6. Delete the folder “Waves” located at HD > Current User > Library > Caches (this folder is accessed by opening  the Go menu and holding down the [Alt/Option] key. This will reveal the Library option)
  7. Go to Mac HD > Library > Application Support and delete the &#;Waves&#; and &#;Waves Audio&#; folders.

To reinstall Waves Central and your Waves V9 products &#;

Afterwards, please launch REAPER and re scan again for the plug-ins.

As a long-time waves user, I’ve been slowly accumulating a collection of plugs prior to this subscription being available. That means I’ve been installing them intermittently over the last two years on this machine, and there have been updates since then. Those updates most likely were conflicting with previous files I’d installed, causing some to go missing and others to trigger a system crash. That’s why performing a clean install of everything worked. There was no longer old stuff mucking up the works and conflicting with the new stuff.

happy dance

As mentioned above, if you’re having an issue with the new subscription working properly in REAPER, you should be certain that you’re using the VST3 version of the plugin in question. If it didn’t show up, a clean install may be the answer. I would do this with Waves tech support, as there may be further issues. Now that I’m up and running with the supported VST3 plugins, everything is running exactly as it should. I couldn’t be happier.

Thanks to Brandon for writing this up and sharing the info.
