MapleStory Blaster Skill Build Guide

Blaster is a MapleStory class that relies on combo and animation-canceling skills to maximize damage and when done right, is a great DPS class to play. Blaster comes from the Resistance character classes and uses a gauge to produce strong combo skills that players will fill up as they deal damage. Blaster is a Warrior, so they utilize the STR stat whilst using a new weapon type called Arm Cannon.

Blaster Overview

Blaster was released in patch V.175 Heroes Of Maple in Global MapleStory, joining the Resistance class lineup that includes: Battle Mage, Wild Hunter, Mechanic, Xenon, Blaster, Demon Slayer and Demon Avenger. The class is known for having to hit multiple keys on your keyboard in order to maximize the damage it produces against Bosses; when done right, this class comes out on top as one of the best damage-dealing classes in MapleStory.

As a training class Blaster has some decent mobbing skills but is usually out performed by other newer classes. Blaster relies on using a combination of skills in order to deal damage, alternating between macro skills and activating Charge skills to keep up buff stacks. New players to the class won't need to optimize their load out to enjoy it- it's usually only when you enter 5th job and beyond will you start really needing to understand how Blaster works. It has great mobility with both a Flash Jump and a Vertical Jump and it's Hyper Skills allows it to float in mid-air for ever, allowing you to dodge some 1-hit KO attacks in end-game bosses like Lucid.

Blaster is best at bossing when players can utilize its combo attacks. Blaster has a few skills which give animation cancel- allowing the player to use one skill, cancel the animation and then spam it again. This allows Blaster to deal plenty of attacks in a short amount of time, giving them a powerful DPS position in the MapleStory DPS charts. It does take some learning to understand Blaster mechanics when it comes to bossing, but players shouldn't be put off. There are plenty of tutorials online that can help with this and you're more than likely to pick it intuitively as you play the class.

Once the Gauge is charged, you can then use Bunker Buster Explosion skill to deal damage to a wide area.

Blast Shield will convert any damage dealt to you as a shield. Detonate allows for vertical jumping and Revolving Cannon Mastery increases your damage when Overheated.

Blaster Guide

[IMG][Hammer Smash]Permanently increases Double Blast damage by +90% points.Strike the ground, dealing 200% x 6 to 8 enemies around you. Enemies hit by Hammer Smash will receive 10% more Final Damage from your attacks for the next 10 seconds. When Hammer Smash is held down, it begins charging. When a full charge is released, it cancels the animation of any skill that is being used, and the attack will create a shockwave that persists on the ground for 5 sec, periodically dealing 150% x 2 on up to 8 enemies while it is active. An attack you’ll occasionally want to use to keep up its debuff. More info on how to use this skill in the main body of this guide. The shockwave will constantly refresh the debuff, but the generation of the shockwave is server-sided. With high ping, Hammer Smash becomes clunky to use fully charged, so if you lag a lot you’ll need to use the uncharged version to keep up the debuff. As a charge skill, Hammer Smash has all the same animation canceling properties as Bobbing, but the attack itself can only be canceled with Bobbing (or Weaving), so you’ll need to charge Hammer Smash and Bobbing (or Weaving) together to cancel Hammer Smash’s animation.[IMG][Weaving]Permanently increases Magnum Punch damage by +105% points.Moves you backward. This movement can be canceled by pressing jump. When Weaving is held down, it begins charging, and when a fully charged Weaving is released during the animation of another skill, it cancels that skill’s animation and immediately moves you backward.Basically Bobbing that moves you backwards. Everything that’s been said about Bobbing applies to Weaving too (except Weaving’s full charge is indicated by a yellow glow rather than orange). Your combos will occasionally displace you, so you can alternate between Bobbing and Weaving to stabilize your position.[IMG][Rocket Rush]Grabs one enemy for 140% x 2 damage and rushes forward, pushing up to 15 enemies in your path for 140% x 1.Your generic rush skill. Helpful for gathering mobs if your main attack skills can’t one-hit--can also be used to reposition them so your Bunker Buster Explosion hits more targets. Very useful in Mu Lung Dojo on floors where you're fighting more than one boss.[IMG][Magnum Launch]Delivers a powerful punch to the enemy you are holding with Rocket Rush and launches them a short distance forward, dealing 180% x 6 on up to 15 enemies.Command to activate: Press Rocket Rush again during Rocket Rush.I’ll update this section once I figure out a useful way to use this skill, but as it stands Magnum Launch is completely outclassed by your combos so there is no reason you’ll ever need to use it (though there is some entertainment value in launching mobs at your AFK friends). Magnum Launch won’t trigger on mobs that are above your level range, so if you’re training on higher leveled mobs and have developed a habit of button-mashing Rocket Rush, you’d best undo that before you level up.[IMG][Revolving Cannon Plus II]Permanently increases the capacity of your Dynamo Gauge and Ammo to 5. Enhances the effect of the following skills, overwriting the bonuses from Revolving Cannon Plus:
  • Revolving Cannon Mastery: +60% points
  • Revolving Cannon during Magnum Punch: +60% points
  • Revolving Cannon during Double Blast: +20% points
  • Bunker Buster Explosion:
    • Initial Explosion: +60% points
    • Shockwave 1: +80% points
    • Shockwave 2: +80% points
When Bunker Buster Explosion is used with at least 5 Dynamo Gauge bars, damage increases by 80% points and Shockwave 3 is released, dealing an additional 180% x 6 on 10 enemies.
Further upgrades your Dynamo Gauge+Ammo+skills, and makes Bunker Buster Explosion even bigger and stronger.[IMG][Shield Training]Permanently increases Abnormal Status Resistance and Elemental Resistance by 20%.Overwrites the shielding effect of Blast Shield. When hit by an attack, a protective shield forms around you, absorbing an amount equal to 30% of the damage taken. A portion of incoming damage will be redirected to the shield while it is active. 40%+50 of the shield dissipates every 1 sec, and it will disappear completely when your HP is healed to full.Yeah, you read that right. This skill is a straight up 10% nerf to Blast Shield. Why? I have no clue, but you get Shield Training II at 4th job and its level 1 point starts at 31% (with 1% per level, ending at 50%), so I guess they wanted that skill to logically follow on from this one. That’s one heck of an oversight.[IMG][Combo Training]Permanently increases Attack Power by 15%.Grants 1 stack of Combo Training when you release a full charge or chain two combo skills. Final Damage increases by 3% per stack, Attack Speed by 1 per 6 stacks, Combo Speed by 1 per 10 stacks. Max 10 stacks.Another passive that incentivises comboing - you’ll have this up 100% of the time. The buff you get from 10 stacks allows you to combo faster, so you’ll need to adjust your pace depending how many stacks you have (slower below 10, faster at 10).Combo skills that proc Combo Training:
  • Magnum Punch+Double Blast
  • Shotgun Punch+Bobbing/ Weaving

MapleStory Resistance Blaster Job Selection Blaster is the new Resistance warrior who uses a new two-handed weapon called the Gauntlet Revolver. His secondary weapon is the Explosive Pill. He uses warrior equipment. The Revolver has two types of resources, Bullets and the Cylinder Gauge. Through melee combat, the Revolver will use bullets (the circles) to fire cannon shots when you use the skill Revolving Cannon. Each time you do so, your Cylinder Gauge (top bar) will be charged up by. When it is full, you can unleash a devastating attack. Blaster’s job instructor is Elex, who was hinted towards being the warrior instructor since the Resistance first came out.

Blaster Pros and Cons

Pros

  • *Share your pros on this job!*
  • Few buffs to micromanage. Excellent mobbing with Pile Bunker / Bunker Buster Explosion.
  • Most mobile class in the game once Detonate is mastered.
  • While combo system does encourage button mashing, Combo Training incentives it through the tradeoff of greater damage output.
  • Blast Shield allows for a somewhat more “tanky” or “enduring” playstyle by reducing incoming damage

Cons

  • *Share your cons on this job!*
  • Evasion of status effects / nuke attacks totally dependent on Bobbing and Weaving.
  • When dependent on combos, drinks MP potions like water, close to the appetite level of Strikers/Thunder Breakers.
  • Your first job introduces you to button spam that only increases in further advancements.
  • One Attacking/Mobbing/Bossing skill for the duration of the character unless you opt for the weaker but spammable shotgun punch in the 4th job.
  • No Buffs whatsoever other than generic speed boost, maple warrior & hyper buff.

3. Pile Bunker (1)
4. Double Jump (MAX)
5. Blast Shield (MAX)
6. Explosion Move (MAX)

Explanation:
Blaster’s primary attacking skill will be a mixture of Magnum Punch and Revolving Cannon. Therefore, add 1 SP (Skill Point) into Magnum Punch, Revolving Cannon and Detonate to unlock those skills! Detonate is useful when you want to reach to the top platform rather than climbing up on a rope/ladder. First, max Revolving Cannon Mastery to unlock Bunker Buster Explosion. Add 1 SP into Bunker Buster Explosion and proceed to max Double Jump. Maxed Double Jump provides further jumping distance which allows you to reach enemies position quickly and saves time when travelling in large maps. Now, start maxing Blast Shield, Detonate, Bunker Buster Explosion and finally Magnum Punch. Magnum Punch is maxed last since the damage increment per level is low and also most enemies get eliminated within 1~2 hits at 1st job.

Next, max the passive skills which are Revolving Cannon Plus II, Combo Training and Shield Training. If you prefer to save health potions instead of dealing higher damage, I’ll recommend you to max Shield Training early (swap with Revolving Cannon Plus II). Additional Information

Blaster Notes

  • Blaster is a new Resistance character that makes use of his Arm Cannon (primary weapon) and Explosive Charge (secondary weapon) to cause mayhem amongst his enemies! Make use of Blaster to create large explosions, wreak havoc, and do massive damage today!
  • Please note that for a limited time after Blaster’s release, Blaster characters will not be allowed to be created using Character Cards, and will not be able to participate in the Burning Project event.
  • Blaster characters utilize a new system called the Dynamo Gauge. Consume ammo from this gauge to use certain skills.
  • Using the Revolving Cannon skill in combination with other skills will inflict more damage—and more explosions—to enemies.
  • In addition, consuming ammo from the Dynamo Gauge using Revolving Cannon will fill the gauge’s power levels.
  • Max out the power levels to unleash a massive attack, Bunker Buster Explosion!
  • Be warned, though; after using Bunker Buster Explosion, the Dynamo Gauge will overheat, initiating a cooldown where the power levels are unable to be filled.

This resource is exclusively used to activate Skill Bunker Buster Explosion Bunker Buster Explosion. You gain one Dynamo Gauge bar whenever you use Skill Revolving Cannon Revolving Cannon. Once Skill Bunker Buster Explosion is used, you enter an Overheat state where your gauge is set to max but you cannot charge the Dynamo Gauge or use Skill Bunker Buster Explosion

Charge Skills:

Skills with a 'C' on the Skill Icon are Charge Skills. These skills can be held and charged while using other skills. When fully charged, releasing these Charge Skills while using other skills will cancel that skill and instead activate the Charge Skill and create an additional shockwave attack. This is used for Animation Canceling There are four Charge Skills:

Bobbing and Weaving are your main Charge Skills that are used mainly for Animation Canceling. Although, they cannot cancel all skills like Skill Ballistic Hurricane Ballistic Hurricane's uppercut, Skill Bullet Blast Bullet Blast's rush, and Decent Skill buffs While charging, attacks won't knock you back. You can hold up to 2 Charge skills at once. The charging animation is invisible and an orange aura will surround your character when the Charge skill is ready
